The Board of Directors for the Sioux City Community School District named Dr. Juan Córdova as the finalist for district superintendent during a special meeting on Friday. The decision comes after an extensive search process that began in the fall of 2024.

Under Córdova’s leadership, Hazelwood School District expanded from three early childhood centers to 29 full day classrooms across the district. He also leads the district’s professional development, English Language Learners, and federal programs.
“We look forward to welcoming Dr. Córdova to Sioux City Community Schools and look forward to working with him to continue our district’s rich tradition of educational excellence,” says Jan George, President of the Sioux City Community School District Board of Directors. “Dr. Córdova has a strong reputation as a servant leader, known for his collaborative style.
